You take my troubles away

From time to time the Ironbath stumbles across a little musical gem that steals his heart away. This is one of them.

Rachael Yamagata & Dan Wilson – You Take My Troubles Away

Apparently this track comes from the movie soundtrack of ‘Dear John’. The Ironbath knows nothing of this film. According to Amazon it is a romantic drama with … erm … “a totally believable and charming cast”. He suspects that this song is the best thing about the film.

Dan Wilson, former lead of the 90’s band, Semisonic appeared on the Ironbath’s radar when he went on Cayamo 2011 and appeared with another Ironbath favourite, Sam & Ruby. More recently Dan has been recognised as the co-writer on 3 tracks on Adele’s massive hit album ’21’ including the excellent ‘Someone Like You’ which the Ironbath tips for a Grammy nomination later this year.

Rachael Yamagata is also a former Cayamoan but from Cayamo 2010. The Ironbath only briefly caught one of her performances but would have liked to have heard more to form an opinion. It feels as if Dan’s influence has been to add a much needed structure to her vocal performance and the two together sound wonderful.

You are so right about Adele. “21” is a phenomenal cd and it should absolutely be nominated for and win a grammy. And I would like to see Rachael Yamagata as well. I didn’t catch any of her act in 2010 but have enjoyed listening to her since then. Cheers! Maryellen
