How many Adele’s does it take to fill the Albert Hall?

The answer is of course just one…. And, boy, when she releashes her lungs she definitely fills the Hall.

On Monday Adele is releasing a DVD & CD of her live performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London recorded on September 22nd. Here is the trailer for the DVD

The sound is so pure that it sounds as if the tracks have been pain-stakingly recorded under studio conditions. It is hard to believe that she is actually singing live whilst standing alone on a huge stage in one of the largest rooms in the country in front of 5000+ people.

In an age when conventional wisdom says that people don’t buy CDs anymore ’21’ has sold 12 million copies already this year to become the #1 selling album in the UK … #2 on that same list is Adele’s first album, ’19’ originally released back in 2008. And the Ironbath is sure that quite a few million people will wake up on Christmas day to find this DVD in their stocking – perhaps enough to give Adele the hat-trick?

Direct Current is previewing a couple of audio tracks from the package including Adele’s cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’ she sings as a tribute to Amy Winehouse.

Turning Tables

Latest news from her website is that her surgery went well and she is now resting. It doesn’t say when she’ll be able to start singing again, and the Ironbath would imagine that to reach the vocal power that she possesses it’ll take a while to heal. Let’s wish her well.

PS Despite her massive worldwide fame the Ironbath bets that you do not know what Adele’s surname is (without resorting to Google & Wikipedia)? A virtual prize for the first person to correctly comment below.
